Rolls Process

Kocsis’ roll repair process includes incoming inspection, undercutting to remove cracks, cladding using our proprietary wires, finish machining, and final inspection.

For nearly 50 years, we have developed roll repair processes to increase roll performance, improve production throughput, and save customers money. We pride ourselves on our American-made roll quality.

Receiving and Inspection

Every roll at Kocsis undergoes an incoming inspection to check for cracks and other signs of wear. All critical dimensions are documented via our incoming inspection report and entered in our roll tracking database.

We can perform an array of non-destructive testing including dye penetrant, mag-particle, and ultrasonic testing.

Under-Cutting

Following incoming inspection, Kocsis pre-machines each roll to prepare for weld. Cracks and surface deformities are cut out. This guards against future roll cracking and wear.

Cladding

Kocsis has developed proprietary stainless steel and tool steel wires for countless applications. We work with our wire vendors to design wires that meet application demands.

Our welding process is documented to ease training and achieve consistent weld quality. Following welding, each roll is stress relieved to meet hardness specifications.

Finish Machining

Kocsis has machines rolls with diameters ranging from 120 mm up to 44 inches. Materials include stainless steel, carbon steel, tool steel, and Inconel.

Nearly all Kocsis rolls are finish machined on CNC machines allowing for improved efficiency and consistent quality.

Final Inspection and Shipping

Prior to shipment, Kocsis’ inspection team completes and documents a final inspection for every roll.

Kocsis owns and operates two semi-trucks and a small flat bed truck. This allows for transportation flexibility and ensures rolls are delivered safely.
